The wife of the Osun State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaja Fatimah Oreoluwa Lawal, is dead.
The deceased, who was married to Alhaji Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, reportedly passed away on Friday evening after a brief illness.
Her death was confirmed in a statement issued by the media assistant to Osun State APC Chairman, Salam Olamilekan, describing her as a devoted Muslim and a supportive wife whose life was marked by humility, kindness and commitment to her family and community.
The statement noted that her passing has created a significant vacuum within the family and the APC structure in Osun State.
According to the announcement, burial arrangements will be conducted in line with Islamic rites.
She is scheduled to be laid to rest on Saturday at her husband’s country home in Olasode, Ile-Ife.
Part of the statement reads, “With total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, the Lawal family announces the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and matriarch, Alhaja Fatimah Oreoluwa Lawal, the cherished wife of the Osun State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Sooko Tajudeen Lawal.
“Alhaja Fatimah Oreoluwa Lawal returned to her Creator on the evening of Friday, May 1, 2026, at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife, after a brief illness.
“Her passing is a profound loss, not only to the Lawal family but also to the entire APC family in Osun State and beyond. She was a virtuous woman, a devoted Muslimah, a supportive wife, and a compassionate mother whose life was defined by humility, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
“In accordance with Islamic rites, her burial will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, by 12:00 noon at the country home of the Osun State APC Chairman in Olasode, Ile-Ife.
“We pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives her shortcomings, grants her Al-Jannah Firdaus, and gives the family, friends, and associates the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”
