A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Buba Galadima, has said President Bola Tinubu would lose the 2027 election, expressing confidence that the opposition would prevail.
Galadima made the remark on Tuesday while speaking at the party’s convention, where he criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and its handling of opposition parties.
He stated that even in an unlikely scenario where no living candidate contests against President Tinubu, the opposition would still emerge victorious in the 2027 election.
Galadima alleged that the APC-led government had made efforts to weaken opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Labour Party, and the ADC.
He said the opposition parties have faced sustained pressure but must remain resolute in the face of such challenges.
According to him, attempts to intimidate or frustrate opposition figures must be resisted through resilience and collective resolve.
Galadima added that only courage and determination among opposition members would enable them to withstand what he described as undue interference from those in power.
He maintained that the ADC and other opposition parties must continue to reject any form of political suppression.
He also noted that the successful conduct of the party’s convention, despite alleged pressure, demonstrated the ADC’s determination to operate independently.
Galadima said the development showed that the party would not allow any external force to dictate its political direction or internal processes.
He reiterated that the ADC remains committed to strengthening democratic principles and ensuring a competitive political environment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
