Afrobeats star Davido has been appointed Head of Youth Mobilisation for the re-election campaign of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
Davido announced the appointment on Tuesday via his X handle, expressing excitement over his new role in the campaign structure.
He stated that he had been appointed by the governor and Accord Party flag bearer as Head of Youth Mobilisation of the campaign council, adding that the team is preparing for a smooth campaign toward the governor’s re-election bid.
The development comes as political activities intensify ahead of the August 2026 governorship election in Osun State, where Adeleke is seeking a second term in office.
Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, is the nephew of the governor, a relationship that has translated into consistent public political support.
His latest appointment further reflects his growing involvement in politics within the state.
In 2025, the singer was named Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund, a role aimed at attracting investment into sports development.
He has continued to use his platform to support the governor’s political activities, maintaining visible presence during campaigns and government programmes.
The Osun State governorship election is scheduled for August 8, 2026, with political parties already mobilising ahead of the campaigns.
