An Ibadan, Oyo State-based cleric, Kayode Amusan, popularly known as Agbala Gabriel, has been accused of sexual misconduct and alleged mismanagement of donations raised for sick individuals.
For years, the cleric built an online reputation as a compassionate pastor whose ministry often mobilised support for sick and vulnerable people.
Videos showing him praying for struggling families and appealing for financial assistance frequently circulated on social media, earning him admiration from many Nigerians.
However, that reputation has recently come under scrutiny following a series of allegations circulating on Facebook, TikTok and Instagram.
The claims relate to a medical fundraising effort for a sick woman and allegations that the cleric fathered twins with a former backup singer in his church.
One of the controversies involves a woman identified as Morenikeji, who reportedly suffered from a spinal condition and whose medical case previously attracted public donations.
Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola, in a viral video, disclosed that she had earlier helped raise funds for the woman’s surgery but later withdrew after learning that the patient’s family sought assistance from the cleric.
She said the funds initially raised were insufficient and explained that she decided to step aside once the woman was taken to the pastor for help.
Daramola further alleged that the cleric later abandoned the family and did not provide the accommodation and medical support that had been promised.
The woman’s daughter also claimed that she eventually removed her mother from the cleric’s care due to concerns about how the case was being handled.
While the controversy surrounding the medical case continued to generate reactions online, another allegation surfaced.
A blogger known as Iyalaje Courtroom alleged during a live broadcast that the cleric was involved in mismanagement of donations and inappropriate relationships with women.
According to the blogger, one of the women, identified as Bolu, was a former backup singer in the pastor’s church who reportedly became pregnant for him and later gave birth to twins.
She claimed the relationship began when the woman was about 23 years old and that the cleric initially denied responsibility for the pregnancy before later accepting it and providing accommodation for the woman and the children.
The allegation was also echoed by a charity advocate, Princess Adeyinka, who claimed she personally intervened when the matter first surfaced.
She alleged that the cleric initially refused to take responsibility for the pregnancy but later accepted it after pressure.
As the allegations spread across social media, supporters and critics of the cleric engaged in heated debates, with some defending his charity work while others called for greater transparency.
Reacting to the claims, Amusan denied any wrongdoing and maintained that the allegations were attempts to tarnish his reputation, stating that prominent Christian ministers are often subjected to false accusations on social media.
