Maverick entertainer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has accused President Bola Tinubu of travelling to the United Kingdom to meet influential figures while pressing issues persist in Nigeria.
He faulted the multi-billion dollar agreement signed between Nigeria and the British government.
The popular entertainer stressed that such agreements may not yield results amid ongoing insecurity, unstable electricity supply, and widespread hardship among Nigerians.
Charly Boy made the remark in a post he wrote in Pidgin on his X page.
In the post, he alleged that President Tinubu travelled to the United Kingdom to meet influential individuals while critical issues remained unresolved in the country. He questioned the rationale behind leaving domestic challenges unattended while engaging in international engagements.
He also expressed doubt about the effectiveness of agreements signed abroad, noting that such deals may have limited impact if fundamental issues such as power supply, security, and citizens’ welfare are not addressed.
Charly Boy further criticised the size of the delegation that accompanied the president, describing it as excessive and likening the trip to a group outing rather than official governance.
He pointed to ongoing challenges in parts of the country, including Borno State, where residents continue to face hardship, while government officials appear engaged in international engagements.
He argued that a well-managed country would not require external validation, adding that citizens would naturally support leadership that delivers results.
He concluded by urging Nigerians to remain observant and critical of governance, describing the situation as a recurring pattern.
