Popular Nigerian activist, Omoyele Sowore, has criticised Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, over his recent meeting with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike.
Davido and his uncle, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, reportedly visited Wike at his residence in Abuja on Thursday.
In a 16-second video circulating on social media, Davido was seen having a conversation with Wike about the outcome of the Osun State governorship election held on Saturday.
Reacting to the meeting, Sowore described Davido and Wike as political hustlers and questioned the singer’s interaction with the minister despite the killings reported in Osun during the election period.
In a post on his X handle, Sowore accused political actors of deceiving the public while pursuing interests that bring them together.
He also criticised Davido for what he described as “genuflecting before Nyesom Wike,” barely a week after what he referred to as their “‘agreement is agreement’ election politics” in Osun.
Sowore alleged that the election was marred by deadly violence and the loss of lives, adding that political actors knew where their interests converged despite their public positions.
He described the political actors as “Dissemblers. Gerrymanderers. Carpetbaggers. Political hustlers. Lying machines.”
Sowore also alleged that their positions changed when their interests were at stake, stating that “the masks come off.”
There were reports of killings involving supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Accord Party before and during Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State.
