The Imole Campaign Council has appealed to Muslim and Christian leaders and members in Iragbiji, the headquarters of Boripe Local Government Area, to support the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke in Saturday’s governorship election.
The council made the appeal on Wednesday during the grand finale of its one-week grassroots mobilisation across communities in the local government. The event was held at the Iragbiji Central Mosque, where members of the council joined Islamic leaders in prayers for the success of the governor in the election.
Speaking on behalf of the council, the Boripe Local Government Imole Campaign Council spokesperson, Alhaji Abayomi Adegoke, said Adeleke deserved a second term based on what he described as the administration’s development efforts across the local government and the appointment of Iragbiji indigenes to strategic positions.
Adegoke acknowledged that Boripe did not deliver its votes to Adeleke in the 2022 election but said the governor had embarked on and completed several projects in the area while also commencing new ones.
He described Adeleke as a governor who prioritises peace and values the Muslim community, urging residents to support his re-election to enable him to continue his development programmes in Iragbiji and other parts of the state.
Adegoke also urged religious leaders to continue preaching peace before, during and after the election, while calling on residents to reject violence and support a peaceful electoral process.
He said Adeleke had embarked on another landmark project in the state and should be given the opportunity to complete it. He also urged voters to support the Accord Party, which he said is number one on the ballot.
Adegoke expressed confidence that Adeleke would emerge victorious, saying his re-election would enable residents to continue benefiting from what he described as the dividends of democracy.
He urged residents of Iragbiji and other parts of Osun State to come out on Saturday to exercise their franchise peacefully, stressing that maintaining peace during the election was a collective responsibility.
Earlier, the council met with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Iragbiji chapter, and visited Olohunda, Odebudo, Ayekale, Sara, Egbeda, Boredun, Idi Ogungun, Aro and Eleesun Communities to canvass support for Adeleke’s re-election.
The campaign council was led by Alhaji Hamzat Agbeleke (Awolu) Alhaji Kareem Afolabi, Chairman of Boripe Local Government, Hon. Babalola Wasiu Kayode and the Chairman of the party in Boripe Local Government, Hon. Kunle Onikola.
