The Police Service Commission (PSC) has concluded the recruitment of 50,000 Police Constables into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) after publishing the names of successful applicants.
The commission said the exercise was carried out with relevant government agencies and stakeholders to ensure transparency, fairness and compliance with the federal character principle.
Here are 10 important things successful applicants should know:
1. Why the recruitment matters
The recruitment is part of the Federal Government’s plan to increase the strength of the Nigeria Police Force and improve security operations across the country.
The PSC said the exercise was designed to give qualified Nigerians equal opportunities through a transparent and merit-based process.
2. Agencies that conducted the exercise
The recruitment involved the:
Nigeria Police Force (NPF)
Federal Character Commission (FCC)
Ministry of Police Affairs
State Career and Counselling Departments
Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC)
According to the commission, the collaboration ensured fairness and proper representation of all states.
3. How to check your name
Applicants can confirm whether they were successful on the official PSC recruitment portal, where the full list has been uploaded.
The commission also said shortlisted candidates will receive notifications through the email addresses and phone numbers they used during registration.
Applicants have been advised to keep checking their emails and SMS messages for further instructions.
4. What happens after selection
Successful applicants are expected to report to their assigned Police Training Institutions after the reporting schedule is announced.
On arrival, they will undergo:
Medical screening by the Police Medical Team
Documentation and verification of credentials
Basic police training
The PSC said details of reporting dates and training venues will be announced separately.
5. You can lose your offer
The commission warned that successful applicants may forfeit their appointments if they:
Fail to report to their assigned training institutions within the approved period.
Fail the compulsory medical examination on resumption.
Candidates declared medically unfit will not continue with the training programme.
6. Documents you must take along
Successful applicants are expected to report with:
Call-up slip
National Identification Number (NIN) slip
Bank Verification Number (BVN) slip
Original copies of academic and other relevant certificates
Photocopies of all certificates and supporting documents
The commission advised candidates to ensure all documents are genuine and complete to avoid disqualification.
7. Approved dress code
Candidates are required to report wearing:
White T-shirt
White shorts
White canvas shoes
The PSC warned that failure to comply with the approved dress code could delay documentation and admission into the training programme.
8. Prepare for medical screening
Medical screening is compulsory for all successful applicants.
Only candidates who pass the examination will proceed with the training.
9. Watch your email and phone
The commission urged successful applicants to regularly check their email inboxes and SMS messages for updates on reporting dates and other instructions.
10. Ignore fraudsters
The PSC advised applicants to rely only on official information from the commission and the Nigeria Police Force.
It warned candidates to ignore anyone demanding money or promising to influence the recruitment process, stressing that the exercise was conducted “strictly on merit and due process.”
