…..Egbedore monarchs endorse Adeleke
Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has commissioned the Dada Estate Road with Spur and the Ajetunmobi–Oke Ibukun Street with Spur to Aje Market in Ido-Osun before leading the Accord Party’s governorship campaign rally in Awo, the headquarters of Egbedore Local Government.
The governor also received over 500 defectors into the Accord Party during the rally on Friday.
Addressing party supporters, Adeleke urged residents not to be intimidated by the opposition, assuring them that security agencies had guaranteed adequate security before and during the August 15 governorship election.
He charged party supporters, particularly youths, to defend their votes by remaining at polling units until votes were counted and announced, while urging them to assist elderly voters to polling units in line with the law.
The governor also warned voters against surrendering or selling their Permanent Voter Cards, describing those allegedly seeking to obtain the cards as “thieves.”
He further urged supporters to intensify house-to-house campaigns for the Accord Party, expressing confidence that the party would secure victory in the election.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the Imole Campaign Council, Senator Lere Oyewumi, urged party canvassers and supporters to sustain grassroots mobilisation and remain peaceful throughout the election.
He advised voters to stay at polling units after casting their ballots and follow the electoral process through ward and local government collation centres to ensure votes were not manipulated.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Imole Campaign Council, Rep. Bamidele Salam, said Adeleke’s administration had executed projects across all wards in Egbedore Local Government, including roads, schools, boreholes, transformers and healthcare facilities.
Salam appealed to residents not to sell their votes or Permanent Voter Cards, urging them to vote for the Accord Party in all the 92 polling units in the local government.
He said, “On August 15, all the 92 polling units in Egbedore Local Government must vote for the Accord Party and Governor Ademola Adeleke. Please encourage others not to allow anyone to deceive them. The governor has provided maximum support, and there should be no fear of intimidation. Dear youths, be more proactive in your house-to-house campaign and sensitise people not to sell their votes to the APC. If anyone asks for their voter card, they want to steal their mandate. After voting, do not return home. Stay at your polling unit until the votes are counted, and follow the process from the ward to the local government collation centre until the final results are announced.”
Earlier, the Alawo of Awo, Oba Abdulrasaq Taiwo Adeboye, commended the governor for what he described as developmental projects executed across Egbedore Local Government.
The traditional ruler also lauded the enrolment of traditional rulers and their queens into the state’s free health insurance scheme.
Speaking on behalf of traditional rulers in the local government, Oba Adeboye appealed for peaceful conduct before, during and after the governorship election and announced the endorsement of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s second-term bid by the monarchs in Egbedore Local Government.
He said, “We appeal to hoodlums and everyone who does not want peace to reign in the state to embrace peace. We urge all residents to ensure that the August 15 election is peaceful. Governor Ademola Adeleke will secure a second term. After consultations and meetings, all the traditional rulers in Egbedore Local Government unanimously agreed to endorse Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term.”
