The Osun State chapter of ‘Nigeria Prays’ has announced a 3-hour prayer rally to seek divine intervention for peace ahead of the August 15 gubernatorial election in the state.
According to a statement signed by the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Bishop Adesola Olubadejo, the programme will hold on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Covenant of Peace Redemption Ministries, Owode Ilesa.
The statement urged all stakeholders, particularly political parties, to set aside partisan interests and join in the intercession for a peaceful poll.
“This is not about party A or party B. This is about Osun and the future of our children. We are calling on all political parties in Osun, irrespective of their affiliation, to come together and pray for a peaceful gubernatorial election,” Bishop Olubadejo said.
The theme for the prayer rally is ‘Light Must Shine’, drawn from Matthew 5:11 (GNB).
Organisers said the choice of theme reflects the need for truth, justice and transparency to prevail in the state and Nigeria at large.
“Nigeria and Osun in particular have gone through turbulent times. But we believe that when light shines, darkness gives way. We are praying that God’s light will shine on Osun before, during and after the election,” the Bishop noted.
‘Nigeria Prays’ was established in 1996 by General Yakubu Gowon, GCFR (Rtd). The movement was birthed out of a burden to address Nigeria’s challenges through sustained prayer and intercession.
