The lawmaker representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon.Bamidele Salam, has donated an ultra-modern media centre to support the re-election campaign of Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke.
The facility was officially commissioned on Sunday in Osogbo and handed over to the Imole Campaign Council (TICC), where Salam currently serves as Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee.
Speaking during the maiden press conference held shortly after the commissioning, the Director-General of the Imole Campaign Council, Senator Lere Oyewumi, described the media centre as a strategic communication hub established to coordinate and disseminate activities of the campaign council ahead of the August 15 governorship election in the state.
Oyewumi stated that the facility would serve as the nerve centre for the propagation of Governor Adeleke’s second-term campaign and strengthen engagement with the public and media stakeholders across the state.
He said the Adeleke administration had continued to enjoy widespread support from residents of the state, including the media sector, noting that the backing had provided a strong foundation for what he described as sustained progress, development and prosperity in Osun.
The campaign council director-general maintained that the Imole Campaign would remain focused and would not be distracted by opposition criticisms ahead of the election.
Highlighting achievements of the Adeleke administration, Oyewumi said the government had cleared 18 months out of the 30 months inherited half-salary arrears owed by the previous administration.
He also disclosed that the administration had fully paid the 28 months contributory pension arrears owed to retirees by the immediate past All Progressives Congress government in the state.
According to him, the payment of outstanding liabilities had improved the financial health of the state and contributed to infrastructural development, human capital advancement and improved governance indices across Osun State.
Oyewumi further referenced the ongoing flyover project in Ile-Ife, describing it as a major economic infrastructure initiative of the Adeleke administration.
He added that Governor Adeleke’s second-term agenda would focus on youth, women and workers’ welfare, infrastructure consolidation, agro-industrial expansion, affordable healthcare and education, as well as improved business and security environment aimed at job creation.
Also speaking at the event, Salam reiterated his position that residents of Osun State would resist any attempt to manipulate the outcome of the governorship election.
The federal lawmaker maintained that the people of the state would not only vote during the election but would also ensure that their votes count.
He added that any attempt to rig the election, intimidate voters or undermine the democratic process would be resisted by the electorate.
Dignitaries present at the event included the Osun State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Sunday Bisi, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuf, commissioners, top government officials and members of the Accord Party from across the state.
