A fresh leadership crisis has emerged within the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the rise of a new faction within the ruling party.
Alhaja Hafsatu Danladi, a political commentator and activist, has declared herself chairperson of a factional APC, claiming leadership amid the party’s deepening internal rift.
Danladi said her faction has already notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and is seeking the derecognition of the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Nentawe Yilwatda.
In a statement, she asserted her position as the authentic chairperson of the party and disclosed plans to challenge the legitimacy of the current leadership at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
She explained that the legal action is aimed at removing what she described as an illegitimate structure currently managing the affairs of the party.
Danladi also revealed that she would ask the court to direct INEC to withdraw recognition from the existing National Working Committee under Yilwatda.
She maintained that the move is necessary to uphold the rule of law, protect the integrity of the party and ensure that due process is followed in its leadership.
The factional leader added that her actions are intended to restore legality and proper structure within the ruling party.
