A Nigerian woman, Debby Igbonanwa, has revealed why she would prefer to have another son if she becomes pregnant again, despite already having two boys.
Debby said she believes raising daughters comes with significant responsibilities, particularly when they eventually get married.
She expressed concern about the way some women are treated by their husbands and in-laws after marriage, saying this was one of the reasons she would rather continue having boys.
According to her, if she had a daughter, she would not tolerate any form of mistreatment from her husband or his family and would want to be certain of the man’s character before allowing him to marry her.
Debby said she would instead prefer to raise sons who would treat their wives well and regard her daughters-in-law as her own children.
She added that her husband was already preparing to become an exceptional father-in-law and expressed confidence that her future daughters-in-law would be proud to have her.
Debby said she hoped to contribute to changing the narrative surrounding the treatment of women in marriage through the way she raises her sons and treats their wives.
