The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has urged voters and his supporters to remain calm and vigilant as the collation of results from Saturday’s governorship election begins.
Oyebamiji, in a statement, thanked the people of Osun State for coming out in large numbers to exercise their civic responsibility and participate in the election.
He also commended the security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for their commitment to their duties and what he described as professionalism and integrity in the conduct of the election.
The APC candidate urged his supporters and other residents to remain peaceful, watchful and resolute during the collation of results.
Oyebamiji called on voters to protect the integrity of the ballots cast, warning against any attempt to undermine the will of the people or interfere with the mandate given through the election.
He urged his supporters not to allow their efforts to be compromised, stressing the need for them to remain confident while awaiting the final outcome of the election.
Oyebamiji expressed hope that the will of the people would prevail at the end of the collation process.
Part of the statement reads, “We have come a very long way, and today, I am deeply encouraged that our collective efforts are yielding results. I sincerely thank the good people of Osun State for coming out in large numbers to exercise their civic responsibility and make their voices heard through the ballot. I also commend the security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for their commitment to their duties and for conducting themselves with professionalism and integrity.
“As the collation of results begins, I urge all our supporters and the good people of Osun to remain calm, vigilant and resolute. Let us protect the sanctity of the votes cast by our people. Do not allow anyone, under any guise or through any means, to subvert the will of the people or undermine the mandate they have freely chosen to give us in today’s election.
“We have come too far to allow our collective efforts to be compromised. Let us remain peaceful, watchful and confident as we await the final outcome. May the will of the people prevail.”
