Adeleke
Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has declared Friday, August 14, 2026, as a work-free day for public service workers ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The declaration was contained in a circular issued by the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, to enable workers to travel where necessary and prepare to exercise their voting rights during the election.
The circular stated that all categories of workers are covered by the declaration, except those engaged in emergency and essential duties.
Meanwhile, Adeleke has urged Osun workers, their relatives and friends to vote massively on Saturday and defend their votes to ensure what he described as continuity of good governance across the state.
In a pre-election message to workers, the governor commended the labour leadership and workers for their support for his administration, while describing the relationship between his government and Osun workers as mutually beneficial.
Adeleke also urged workers to mobilise informal workers, artisans and professional bodies to participate in the election and defend their constitutional right to vote.
He said his administration had delivered gains across the labour sector and other areas of governance over the past three and a half years, urging workers to protect what he described as the achievements of his government.
