As the August 15 gubernatorial election draws near, the leading Political Parties in Osun State under the aegis of ‘The Democrats’ have expressed confidence in the ability of the Independent National Electoral Commission in the state and the state, Commissioner of Police.
They said the duo have conducted themselves professionally in their actions towards the guber poll and they have no doubt in their ability to deliver a free and fair election.
Speaking on behalf of The Democrats during a courtesy visit to the office of INEC in Osogbo, the state Labour Party chairman, Mustapha Adebayo Muideen, said the purpose of the visit was to be kept abreast of the commission’s preparation towards the guber poll
Adebayo noted that, as stakeholders in the electioneering process in the state, they are the intermediaries between the umpire and the electorates, hence, the need to be up to date in the process.
Also speaking at the police headquarters in Osogbo, the assistant secretary of All Progressives Congress in the state, Waheed Adediran, said the parties are worried about the imbroglio happenings in the state.
Adediran said they needed the assurance that electorates are safe before the election and to cast their votes for whatever candidate they prefer during the election.
Responding on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the Command’s DC Operations and DC Administration, said they are combatant ready to secure lives and properties of Osun residents, before, after and during the election.
Parties present at the courtesy visit included Democratic Leadership Alliance, National Rescue Movement, African Democratic Party, Labour Party, APGA, Social Democratic Party.
Others are Action Alliance, Allied Peoples Movements, Action Alliance Congress, Zenith Labour Party, All Progressives Congress, National Democratic Party, Nigeria Democratic Congress and other political parties.
