INEC Recruitment Application
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced its 2026 nationwide recruitment exercise, inviting applications from suitably qualified Nigerians for employment into various entry-level positions on Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12.
INEC, in a recruitment notice, said the exercise is aimed at strengthening the commission’s institutional capacity in electoral administration, voter registration, data management, election logistics and other critical electoral operations in furtherance of its constitutional mandate.
According to the notice, vacancies are available under three categories. The Professional Cadre, comprising Lawyers, Clinical Officers, IT Officers, Engineers, Accountants and other professionals, is for Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12.
The commission also announced vacancies for Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) on Grade Level 08 and Executive Officer (Assistant Registration Area Officer) on Grade Level 07.
INEC stated that applicants for the Professional Cadre must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent and a Master’s Degree in the relevant field of specialisation from a government-recognised institution, relevant professional certification where applicable, NYSC Discharge Certificate, Certificate of Exemption or Letter of Exclusion, demonstrable practical knowledge in the relevant field, analytical, communication and problem-solving skills, and proficiency in computer applications and digital tools.
For the Administrative Officer II position, applicants are required to possess a Bachelor’s Degree, Higher National Diploma (HND) or equivalent qualification in Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences from a recognised institution, NYSC Discharge Certificate, Certificate of Exemption or Letter of Exclusion, good knowledge of data management and record keeping, strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant ICT tools.
Applicants seeking the Executive Officer position must possess a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or its equivalent from a recognised institution, basic knowledge of computer operations and data handling, good communication and organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively under supervision within assigned Registration Areas.
The commission further listed general requirements for applicants, including being a Nigerian citizen by birth or descent, presenting a valid Certificate of State of Origin duly signed by the Chairman or Secretary of the Local Government, being computer literate, medically certified fit by a government medical officer, not above 35 years of age at the point of application, possessing good character without any criminal conviction, willingness to serve in any part of the federation where assigned, and demonstrating integrity, discipline and commitment to public service.
INEC directed interested applicants to submit their applications online through its recruitment portal by visiting the recruitment website, clicking on the “Vacancies” tab, completing the appropriate application form, uploading all required credentials and submitting the application online.
The commission noted that only shortlisted candidates would be invited for the next stage of the recruitment exercise, stressing that the application is free of charge.
It also warned that candidates would be assessed strictly based on the credentials submitted, adding that no upgrading of qualifications or credentials would be entertained after the recruitment exercise.
INEC further cautioned that multiple applications by a candidate would lead to automatic disqualification, while submission of false information or forged documents would attract disqualification and possible prosecution.
According to the commission, the application window opens on Monday, July 20, 2026 and closes on Monday, July 27, 2026.
