The Osun State Police Command has confirmed that a man suspected to be a bandit and recently apprehended in Osogbo is currently under investigation.
The suspect was reportedly arrested by residents at the Okefia area of Osogbo, near the Government House along the Ilobu Road axis, on Wednesday.
According to videos circulating on social media, the man was dressed in Nigerian Army camouflage trousers and was allegedly found wearing an Amotekun uniform beneath his vest, in addition to several layers of clothing.
Footage from the scene also showed police officers taking the suspect into custody and transporting him to the Area Command for further questioning.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the suspect is now in police custody.
Ojelabi disclosed that the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo for a thorough investigation.
He added that the police have commenced efforts to ascertain the suspect’s mental and physical condition as part of the ongoing investigation.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspect appeared to exhibit unusual behaviour, noting that investigators would discreetly verify his health status while probing the circumstances surrounding his arrest.
