The Senator representing Borno Central, Kaka Lawan, has disbursed N135.65 million to executives of the All Progressives Congress in his constituency ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
In a statement shared on Facebook on Friday, the senator’s legislative assistant, Usman Alkali, disclosed that the donation marked the third time the lawmaker had extended such support since becoming a member of the National Assembly.
According to the statement, the funds were distributed on Thursday to APC executives across Borno Central to support their preparations for the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Alkali explained that Senator Lawan distributed a total of N135,650,000 to party executives within the constituency as part of efforts to assist them during the festive period.
He further stated that this was the third occasion the senator had made such a donation since his emergence as a member of the National Assembly.
According to Alkali, the gesture was aimed at appreciating party executives for their dedication to strengthening democracy and promoting democratic principles.
Meanwhile, Lawan had earlier withdrawn from the Borno State governorship race and endorsed Mustapha Gubio, who is reportedly backed by Governor Babagana Zulum.
Alkali disclosed that the decision followed a stakeholders’ meeting held in Abuja, where it was agreed that Lawan should step down in favour of Gubio while retaining his Senate seat.
