The Osun Health Insurance Agency has commenced arrangements to enrol traditional rulers across Osun State and their spouses into the state health insurance scheme.
The agency disclosed that the initiative followed the directive of Governor Ademola Adeleke as part of efforts to expand access to quality and affordable healthcare services in the state.
Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr. Rasaq Akindele, in a statement issued on Monday in Osogbo, said the present administration remained committed to the health and wellbeing of residents regardless of social status or background.
Akindele explained that the decision to include traditional rulers and their spouses in the health insurance scheme was aimed at strengthening healthcare access for royal fathers across the state.
According to him, the agency has already concluded arrangements for a smooth enrolment process.
He disclosed that officials of the agency would begin visits to palaces of traditional rulers across the state from Wednesday, May 20, 2026, for the registration exercise.
The OHIS boss added that the enrolment exercise is expected to last for two weeks.
Akindele also noted that the initiative was designed to appreciate the contributions of traditional rulers toward maintaining peace, unity, and development in Osun State.
He assured that the agency would continue to implement people-oriented health policies targeted at improving the welfare and living standards of residents across the state.
