Members of the Osogbo Grammar School A-Level Class of 1984/1986 on Saturday, May 30, 2026, reunited in Osogbo, Osun State, to celebrate their 40th reunion anniversary, reflecting on four decades of friendship, achievements and contributions to their alma mater.
The colourful event, held at Royal Continental Hotel, Osogbo, attracted alumni from different parts of Nigeria and abroad, alongside their families, friends and former teachers, as old classmates reunited and shared memories of their school days.
Speaking at the event, one of the teachers who taught the set Literature during their A-Level studies, Mr Kayode Olorundare, expressed delight at seeing his former students again after 40 years.
Olorundare described the set as one of the most outstanding groups he taught during his teaching career and commended members for their continued support for Osogbo Grammar School through various developmental projects. He also prayed for long life and greater accomplishments for members of the association.
In an interview with AMILOADED, the President of the Osogbo Grammar School A-Level Class of 1984/1986, Mr Tunji Olusinde, described the reunion as a moment of gratitude to God for preserving the lives of members over the past four decades.
According to him, beyond celebrating their achievements, the association has consistently prioritised the welfare of its members. He disclosed that the group had raised financial support for members facing health and personal challenges, including medical assistance running into millions of naira.
Olusinde added that members have remained committed to supporting one another despite the prevailing economic challenges in the country, urging alumni who are yet to participate actively in the association’s programmes to remain connected and attend future gatherings.
Also speaking, the Vice President of the association and Chairperson of the reunion planning committee, Mrs Naomi Ukwedje, described the gathering as a remarkable opportunity for members to reconnect, strengthen relationships and foster unity.
She noted that the reunion had achieved its objective of bringing classmates together once again and encouraged members to sustain the annual tradition by participating actively in future editions.
One of the alumni, Mr Remi Adebayo, said the reunion provided a rare opportunity to meet classmates after 40 years, describing the experience as emotional and memorable.
Adebayo urged members to attend future reunions with their spouses and children, noting that doing so would help preserve the association’s legacy and pass its values to the next generation.
As part of the celebration, some former executives of the association, including immediate past President Mr Ebenezer Asiyanbi; former Secretary Mrs Taiwo Ogunbande; and Mrs Nike Etiebet, received awards of appreciation in recognition of their contributions to the growth and development of the group.
The anniversary celebration also featured the donation of more than 2,000 exercise books to students of Osogbo Grammar School and the presentation of four bags of rice to teachers in appreciation of their service and commitment to education. The outreach was held on May 29, 2026.
The alumni said the gesture was aimed at supporting learning among students and encouraging teachers who continue to shape future generations.
