The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has extended the service year of 12 corps members in Osun State over various infractions committed during their mandatory national service.
The affected corps members were among the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream II participants serving in the state, while 27 others were declared absconders in line with the provisions of the NYSC Bye-Laws.
Osun State NYSC Coordinator, Mr Ekeng Kubiangha, disclosed this during the passing-out exercise held across the 30 local government areas and area office in the state on Thursday.
Kubiangha explained that a total of 2,132 corps members successfully completed their one-year national service and were issued Certificates of National Service.
He congratulated the outgoing corps members for completing the programme successfully and commended them for their discipline, resilience and contributions to the development of their host communities.
The coordinator also cautioned the corps members against wearing NYSC uniforms after the expiration of their service year, while advising them to properly safeguard their Certificates of National Service.
According to him, corps members should carefully verify all details on the certificates before laminating them to avoid future complications.
Kubiangha further urged the outgoing corps members to remain security conscious and avoid making statements or engaging in activities capable of endangering their lives, especially as political activities intensify ahead of elections in the state.
He encouraged them to remain focused, embrace self-development and pursue economic independence, stressing that certificates alone could not guarantee success without determination, creativity and hard work.
