A Nigerian man, Onuora Okeke, has appealed for help over the condition of his wife, who has allegedly refused to eat, sleep or take her bath since the death of their daughter, Amanda.
Okeke disclosed this in a Facebook post on Wednesday, saying all efforts made to comfort and calm his wife had proved unsuccessful.
According to him, their daughter’s illness began with purging and vomiting, which he initially suspected to be symptoms associated with teething.
He explained that the child was later taken to different hospitals for treatment, but laboratory tests reportedly returned negative for typhoid and malaria.
Okeke added that he contacted several clerics to pray for the child, with some allegedly claiming that the illness was linked to spiritual attacks.
The distraught father said his wife had remained emotionally devastated since the child’s death and often breaks down whenever she sees any item belonging to Amanda.
He disclosed that she now lives in fear, cries frequently and has been unable to sleep at night since the incident occurred.
Okeke further revealed that he had disposed of several items belonging to the late child, including feeding bottles, drugs, diapers and some clothes, in an attempt to help his wife recover emotionally, but the situation had not improved.
He said many people had also spoken with her in a bid to encourage and console her, but her condition remained unchanged.
The grieving father described the pain of losing a child as unbearable, noting that such an experience was not something anyone should wish even for an enemy.
He wrote, “Since the death of my beautiful daughter Amanda my wife have refused to take bath, she refused to eat,” he wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
“She is full of fear. Once she see anything that belongs to Amanda she will be shivering and crying. She doesn’t sleep in the night.
“I have thrown almost everything that belongs to my daughter away including her feeding bottles, all the drugs we bought for her, pampers and some of her clothes so she can get better all to no avail.
“Thousands of people have been talking to her and yet.
“Please those that have passed through this path should advise me on what to do next to calm her down.
“But losing a child is too painful. It’s not even good to wish your enemy.”
