Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has postponed its election earlier scheduled to hold on Saturday, March 14, 2026, in Osun State.
The development was contained in a notice of postponement issued by the IPAC National Organising Secretary, Chinyere Kalu, and obtained by Amiloaded.
Kalu stated that a new date for the election would be communicated to stakeholders in due course.
She added that the electoral committee regretted any inconvenience the postponement might cause and appealed for the understanding and cooperation of political parties and other stakeholders.
Reacting to the development, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Chairman in Osun State and an aspirant for the IPAC chairmanship position, Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, expressed disappointment over the postponement of the exercise.
Odeyemi said the situation was unfortunate, noting that he had arrived at the venue of the election as early as 9 a.m. in compliance with all requirements stipulated in the election guidelines.
He stated that his decision to contest the IPAC chairmanship alongside the Accord Party and other parties signalled that individuals could challenge those in power through democratic processes.
The NNPP chairman said the postponement would not stop the process, expressing confidence that the election would eventually hold and that the votes would still count whenever a new date is announced.
He also appreciated members of the electoral committee for engaging with him and providing reasons for the postponement.
Amiloaded had earlier reported that the IPAC election scheduled to hold at 10 a.m. at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) secretariat in Osogbo was uncertain as members of the electoral committee were absent from the venue until about 4 p.m., when journalists eventually left the premises.
