In a video that has gone viral on social media, the alleged wife of a missing suspected bandit identified as Muhammad made an emotional appeal to Nigerian soldiers amid ongoing security operations in the country.
The woman’s message comes amid growing concerns over alleged extrajudicial killings during anti-banditry operations.
Addressing her missing husband, the woman expressed deep concern over his fate, stating that she hopes to reunite with him if he is still alive, and called for divine judgment if he had been killed unlawfully.
She also appealed to the military to exercise restraint in dealing with suspected bandits, urging security operatives not to kill individuals after arrest.
The woman emphasized that suspects involved in criminal activities should be subjected to due legal process rather than being executed.
She said, “Oh, my beloved Muhammad, the love of my life. If you are alive, may Allah grant that we meet again. If you are no longer alive, may Allah curse the security operative who killed you.”
“If you find our men involved in robbery or any wrongdoing, please do not kill them. Once you have captured them, killing them is also wrong. Please stop killing people after arrest,”
Her appeal reflects rising concerns among some members of the public over the conduct of security forces and the need for accountability in security operations.
