A Nigerian mother has appealed to the public for help after alleging that her daughter was taken abroad by a woman who promised to help her travel to Dubai but allegedly took her to Libya instead.
In a video shared online, the distressed mother said her daughter was selling pure water before she met the woman who allegedly persuaded her to travel in search of opportunities in Dubai.
She said her daughter was eventually taken to Libya, after which she could not reach her for about a month.
According to the woman, she attempted to contact her daughter again about six months later after she was informed that the young woman had allegedly run away with a man.
The mother, however, said her daughter later managed to establish contact with her and gave her a different account of what had happened.
She said her daughter revealed that the woman who took her abroad had allegedly sold her to a brothel, contrary to the earlier information that she had run away with a man.
The mother broke down while narrating the ordeal and appealed to Nigerians to assist in bringing her daughter back home.
She said she originally had five children but now has only two living with her, describing the situation as another painful loss she is struggling to cope with.
