The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has said President Bola Tinubu intends to end poverty in Nigeria through his economic policies.
The Ooni said some of the policies implemented by Tinubu’s administration had helped to revamp Nigeria’s economy.
The monarch spoke at his palace during the unveiling of the National Mobility Programme of the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation, CreditCorp.
He expressed optimism that Tinubu’s goal of reducing poverty would be achieved through the various programmes and policies introduced by the administration to alleviate economic hardship.
The Ooni said the economic policies of the Tinubu administration were already yielding good results, citing growth in the country’s capital market and foreign reserves as well as increased stability in the foreign exchange market.
According to him, the developments had allowed businesses and individuals to make better economic projections.
He said Nigeria’s capital market had grown to over N150 trillion, describing the development as unprecedented in the country’s history. He also said the country’s foreign reserves had risen to over $53 billion.
The Ooni said the intention of President Tinubu was to put an end to poverty among Nigerians, adding that the steps taken so far by the President had revitalised the nation’s economy.
