Bandits have killed the District Head of Gallah, Alhaji Ahmed Yusuf, a revered traditional ruler under the Borgu Emirate in Niger State.
The Magaji Garin Gallah of Agwara Local Government Area, was reportedly targeted after he issued a direct warning to the gunmen to stop infiltrating his community.
The incident which was first disclosed by security analyst Bakatsine in a post on X.
The slain traditional ruler was identified as a brother of the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi CON.
According to reports, the bandits stormed the palace at the weekend and killed the monarch in what appears to be a calculated act of retaliation for his defiance.
The details surrounding the attack, including the exact time and whether other casualties were recorded, were not immediately clear.
Office of the chairman of Borgu Local Government Council confirmed the gruesome murder of the district head, describing it as “particularly painful and deeply disturbing.”
The Borgu Emirate confirmed the death of the District Head and another illustrious son in a statement issued on Sunday, August 23, 2026 by Ibrahim Toriq Abubakar.
“The Borgu Emirate mourns the painful loss of two great sons and princes of the Emirate: Alhaji Garba Alhassan (Tafidan Borgu) and Alhaji Ahmed Yusuf (Magajin Garin Gallah),” the statement read.
“Their passing is a great loss to their families, the traditional institution, and the entire people of Borgu.
“We extend our deepest condolences to their immediate families, relatives, friends, and associates. May Almighty Allah forgive their shortcomings, grant them eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus, and give their families the strength, patience, and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
“May Allah continue to protect, unite, and strengthen the Borgu Emirate, and grant us all a peaceful and righteous end”
