Osun
An Osun State-born diplomat, Ambassador Adebisi Olusoji, has been affirmed as the presidential candidate of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA).
His affirmation was coordinated by the chairman of the electoral committee, Olalekan Fabayo, at the DLA party secretariat in Osogbo, in the presence of representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In his address, the state acting chairman, Dr Tosin Odeyemi, described Olusoji’s emergence as a pragmatic shift from the old guard to a new beginning.
Odeyemi said Nigerians had experienced the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), adding that it was time for a change.
He said the country needed a pragmatic transition from the old political guard to a fresh beginning that would elevate Nigeria’s position among nations.
Odeyemi said the DLA was a party Nigerians could trust and that its vision distinguished it from other political parties.
He added that the party had worked to select the right candidate because it wanted to begin its journey towards 2030 in Osun State in earnest.
The acting chairman also explained that the party could not field a candidate in the just-concluded Osun governorship election.
He expressed confidence that Osun State would witness a new dawn by 2030.
Odeyemi said the DLA was prepared to keep the ruling party on its toes by constructively criticising programmes it considered not to be in the best interests of the people of Osun State.
He wished Governor Ademola Adeleke and his administration well as the state entered a new chapter.
