Bola Oyebamiji
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has declared himself the incoming governor of the state, expressing confidence that voters will elect him in the August 15 governorship election.
Oyebamiji made the declaration during the Arise Television townhall for governorship candidates ahead of Saturday’s election, where he outlined his plans to tackle poverty, improve security and invest in agriculture, education, healthcare and human capital development.
He said his administration, if elected, would focus on the welfare and development of residents across the state, irrespective of their location, stressing that governance should cover the entire state rather than specific areas.
Oyebamiji said his government would prioritise efforts to address hunger and poverty, while investing in agriculture, education and health and improving the welfare of residents through human capital development.
Reacting to Governor Ademola Adeleke’s allegation that the Federal Government was planning to deploy “federal might” to influence the election, Oyebamiji said he had not encountered evidence of such a plan during his campaign across the state.
He said he had visited all 30 local government areas in Osun three times and consulted party members, community leaders, artisans, lawyers, traders and civil servants, adding that his interactions convinced him that residents were ready for a change of government.
Oyebamiji also said he had inaugurated canvassers across the state as part of efforts to mobilise support for his candidacy.
He maintained that his expected victory would be determined by the people rather than political influence, declaring that he was coming into the election as the incoming governor of Osun State.
