The governorship candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, and the Accord Party, Governor Ademola Adeleke, have appealed to eligible voters in Osun State to participate peacefully in the August 15 governorship election.
According to Vanguard, Oyebamiji made the appeal while addressing APC supporters and residents at the market square in Odo-Otin Local Government Area during his campaign tour of Ifelodun, Boripe and Odo-Otin local government areas.
The APC candidate urged residents who had registered to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing the cards as the key to determining the future of Osun State.
He also advised those who had already collected their PVCs to keep them safe ahead of the election, while encouraging newly registered voters to obtain theirs without delay through party officials at the local government level.
Oyebamiji warned supporters not to sell their PVCs, describing them as their power and licence to participate in the August 15 governorship election.
Speaking on his plans for the state, Oyebamiji said his administration, if elected, would prioritise education, healthcare and agriculture while ensuring balanced development across all parts of Osun State.
He assured residents that no part of the state would be discriminated against, adding that his manifesto would address every sector, with particular attention to agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare, education and commerce.
The APC candidate also called on eligible voters to come out en masse on election day and vote for the party, assuring them of adequate security.
He warned that anyone attempting to intimidate or harass voters would be dealt with by security agencies, urging residents not to be distracted by rumours of violence.
The campaign train later moved to Ikirun, where Oyebamiji addressed supporters at the town hall before proceeding to Iree, Ada, Aagba and Iragbiji as part of his statewide campaign tour.
Meanwhile, Punch reported that Governor Ademola Adeleke urged residents of Osun State to sustain their support for his administration by coming out peacefully to vote during the governorship election, assuring them that every lawful vote would count.
Adeleke made the appeal during a campaign tour of communities in Isokan Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement signed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor appreciated the traditional institution and the people of Apomu and Ikoyi for their support over the years.
He assured residents that his administration would continue to deliver people-oriented projects and inclusive governance across every community in the state.
The governor also reaffirmed his commitment to expanding infrastructure, improving education, strengthening healthcare delivery, creating economic opportunities and ensuring that every part of the state benefits from the dividends of democratic governance.
Adeleke urged residents to come out peacefully on August 15 to cast their votes, maintaining that every lawful vote would count.
