One of the students abducted during the attack on a school in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State has shared his experience in captivity, revealing how two of their teachers were killed by the kidnappers.
The 15-year-old victim spoke in a viral interview after he and other abductees regained their freedom.
Recounting the incident, he said he was worried about his mother throughout the period of captivity.
He said, “When I was in captivity, I was scared because my mother was at home and I was the only one there with no one to save me.
“I didn’t know how they came in, but they entered while we were writing our test. We followed them because they had guns.
“We got to where they kept us around 7 p.m. They abducted us in the morning, and from then on, we kept moving from one place to another in the bush.”
The teenager said the kidnappers cooked rice for them and some of the female captives were asked to join them to prepare meals.
“There were no women among them. Only our female captives cooked for them before they later took over. They didn’t beat us, except our teachers,” he disclosed.
He also narrated how two teachers, identified as Mr Michael and Deacon, were killed.
“We didn’t see how they killed Mr Michael. They took him away from us. We only heard him shout, and when they came back, he wasn’t with them anymore. They did the same thing to Deacon,” he said.
According to him, the kidnappers communicated in both English and Hausa-Fulani.
He added that during rainfall, they were covered with nylon sheets, while they stayed under a shed whenever the weather was hot.
“We were abducted in our school uniforms, but we were given different clothes when we were rescued.”
Despite the traumatic experience, the teenager said he hopes to return to school.
“I will go back to school if God ordains it.”
