Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has called for calm following the recent suspected cult-related killing in Osogbo, urging security agencies to intensify law enforcement and bring those responsible to justice.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke condemned the killing and the subsequent violence, describing the incidents as disturbing.
The governor called on security agencies to enforce the law by investigating the incident and apprehending those involved.
According to the statement, the recent cult violence in Osogbo should be curtailed immediately to avoid worsening the state’s delicate security situation following recent political violence.
The statement also dismissed insinuations linking the governor or the state government to the incident, maintaining that neither Adeleke nor his administration was involved in the killing.
It further noted that the Accord Party is still mourning several of its members allegedly killed by political thugs in recent weeks.
The governor urged members of the public to disregard what he described as fake news and propaganda, while calling on security agencies to thoroughly investigate the incident and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
Part of the statement reads, ““We receive with concern recent suspected cult killing at Osogbo and we call on security agencies to enforce the law and go after the culprits. The killing and the subsequent rampage are condemnable.
