The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 15 Osun State governorship election, Bola Oyebamiji, has appealed to the electorate not to sell their votes during the forthcoming poll.
Oyebamiji urged voters in the state to use their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) wisely by electing leaders with the capacity like him to govern effectively.
The APC candidate made the appeal on Sunday during a meeting with the leadership and members of the Ansar-u-Deen Society in Osogbo.
The former Osun State Commissioner for Finance said that, if elected governor, he would return the state to the path of growth and development, adding that his administration would be guided by the party’s manifesto.
Oyebamiji said the PVC was an instrument that gave every eligible voter the right to decide who governs them for a specified period, urging residents not to commercialise the electoral process by selling their votes.
He assured the electorate that his administration would immediately pursue policies aimed at restoring growth and development in the state, stressing that his plans for governance were contained in the APC manifesto.
The APC governorship candidate also called on the Ansar-u-Deen Society and other religious leaders to continue praying for peace in Osun before, during and after the election.
He urged religious leaders to encourage residents and politicians to embrace peace, saying no life should be lost because of the governorship election.
Oyebamiji added that a peaceful atmosphere would enable voters to freely come out on election day to elect leaders that would promote the progress and development of Osun State.
