Prominent Nigerian Zion Gospel musician, Lekan Remilekun, has revealed that his father has been missing for the past 26 years.
Remilekun made the disclosure during an interview on the Talk to B podcast.
He said his father, Remilekun Amos, a legendary gospel singer, disappeared in November 2000 after he was invited to Akure, the Ondo State capital, for a ministration.
According to the singer, his father never returned after embarking on the missionary journey, leaving the family without any information about his whereabouts.
He described the experience as more painful than losing a loved one to death, citing a Yoruba proverb which says that losing a child is more painful than the death of a child.
Remilekun also expressed sadness that, after 26 years, his children have continued to ask about their grandfather, saying no one understands the pain of the situation more than he does.
He said “My father, Remilekun Amos, was declared missing when he went for that missionary journey in November 2000, and that was the end.
“He was invited to Akure. A Yoruba proverb says “omo eni ku, o San ju omo eni sonu lo” meaning (a dead child is better than a missing or lost child). 26 years counting now. My children are asking me to tell them about grandpa. No one can feel the pain more than the victim, which is me,”
