Veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Adeshina, popularly known as Elegbeje Ado, has died.
The actor reportedly passed away on Monday, June 29, after a brief illness.
His death was announced on Tuesday by fellow actor Kunle Afod in a post shared on Instagram.
Afod described Adeshina as one of the legends of the Yoruba movie industry, praising his immense contributions to the growth of Yoruba cinema and noting that his performances brought joy to countless audiences over the years.
He also extended condolences to the late actor’s family, friends, colleagues and fans, saying Adeshina’s legacy would continue to live on through his works.
Adeshina spent more than two decades in the Yoruba film industry, where he became widely known for portraying traditional rulers, community elders and other culturally significant roles.
