Popular Ibadan-based broadcaster, founder of Agidigbo FM and Accord Party governorship aspirant, Oriyomi Hamzat, has alleged a plot to implicate him in criminal activities as a pretext to shut down or demolish his radio station.
Hamzat made the allegation in a video circulated on social media, claiming that some individuals were planning to plant hard drugs within the premises of Agidigbo FM to frame him and damage the reputation of the media organisation.
He said recent developments in Oyo State prompted him to alert the public to what he described as an ongoing campaign of intimidation targeted at him and his station.
According to Hamzat, some persons had allegedly been sent to the station under the guise of seeking assistance or lodging complaints, with the intention of secretly planting illicit substances on the premises.
The broadcaster alleged that he received information that certain individuals were planning to use the station as a cover to execute the scheme, adding that some of those involved had already been identified while others were still being expected.
Hamzat further claimed that there was another plan to recruit individuals, dress them in yellow outfits associated with the Accord Party and present them as his supporters after allegedly using them to commit criminal acts.
He alleged that the objective of the plot was to tarnish his image and create grounds for action against him and his media organisation.
The Agidigbo FM founder, however, did not identify those he believed were behind the alleged plots and provided no evidence to support the claims.
The allegations have since generated reactions on social media, with supporters and observers calling on relevant authorities to investigate the matter.
