Popular businessman, Isaac Fayose, has claimed that his elder brother and former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, played a key role in the emergence of Governor Seyi Makinde as Oyo State governor in 2019.
According to reports, Ayo Fayose and Makinde have been at loggerheads following a fallout linked to political differences.
Commenting on the dispute in a post on his official Facebook page, Isaac Fayose said he was directly involved in the political engagements that preceded Makinde’s emergence as governor.
He stated that Ayo Fayose facilitated Makinde’s rise to power and disclosed that he would support his brother in the ongoing disagreement between the two politicians.
Isaac recalled that several meetings were held as part of efforts to secure Makinde’s governorship ambition, including one at his resort in Ring Road, Ibadan, where plans for the election were discussed.
He further claimed that prominent figures, including Victor Enahoro, son of the late Anthony Enahoro, participated in some of the meetings that contributed to Makinde’s emergence.
According to him, he personally appealed to Ayo Fayose on Makinde’s behalf, after which the former Ekiti governor provided the necessary support.
Isaac also urged Governor Makinde to reconcile with Ayo Fayose and apologise to him over their differences.
He said he understood the former governor’s anger, alleging that Fayose felt neglected despite the role he played in supporting Makinde’s political journey.
Fayose said, “Ayo Fayose made Seyi Makinde governor through me over 7 years ago. I was party to all that transpired between them.
“In this fight between my brother and Governor Makinde, I am going to support Ayo Fayose.
“Makinde, do you remember the first cow we killed at my resort in Ring Road, Ibadan while planning to make you a governor?
“Ayo Fayose made you Oyo State Governor, I’m not supporting him, I’m just being fair among both of you.
“Do you remember, Victor Enahoro, Anthony Enahoro’s son? We were all at the meeting that brought you as governor. I went to my brother and begged him on your behalf and he did the needful.
“I understand Fayose’s anger. Because he put you there and now you neglected him, he wants to take Oyo back”.
