The lawmaker representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Bamidele Salam, has emerged as the Accord Party candidate for the 2027 general election.
Salam clinched the party’s ticket through affirmation by constituency stakeholders during the Accord House of Representatives primary held in Ede on Friday, May 29, 2026.
The primary election was conducted by the party’s National Working Committee and monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) alongside security agencies.
Speaking with journalists after the exercise, the Accord National Publicity Secretary and Chairman of the primary election committee, Amb. Omorogbe Joseph, described the support shown for Salam at the primary as overwhelming.
He stated that stakeholders and party members across the constituency had demonstrated strong support for Salam’s continuity in office.
Joseph said Salam’s emergence through consensus was a major development for the party and expressed confidence in the lawmaker’s chances in the general election.
He also commended Governor Ademola Adeleke, stating that the governor had recorded notable achievements in Osun State and would secure victory in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
According to him, “Governor Adeleke emergence is a plus to the state. It is equally a plus to Nigeria. It is equally a plus to the party accord. It is my determination at this point that Senator Ademola Adeleke has done wonderfully well here as Osun State Governor. He is going to win come August 15, 2026. And nobody will stop him. We are coming during the campaign to address voters, to vote overwhelmingly for Adeleke. Because he is a man that will take them to the promise land.”
Speaking after receiving his certificate of return, Salam described his emergence as encouraging and a call for greater commitment to service.
The lawmaker expressed appreciation to constituents across Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency for their continued support and confidence in his leadership.
He also thanked Governor Ademola Adeleke for his support and encouragement over the years.
According to him, “I thank the Governor of the state, His Excellency Ademola Adeleke, for having confidence in me. I represent his federal constituency, and whatever happens here, he takes more interest in it. I want to thank him for his support, I want to thank him for his encouragement, and thank every other person who has been supporting me these past years to be able to deliver on this mandate, and I want to promise that I will not let them down.”
Salam stated that his renewed mandate would further challenge him to expand developmental projects and legislative interventions across the constituency.
According to him, priority areas would include roads, electricity, water supply, youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and support for the creative sector.
The federal lawmaker also identified insecurity as one of Nigeria’s major challenges, stressing the need for stronger security architecture to guarantee safety of lives and property.
He added that collaboration between the legislature and executive would be necessary to build a more effective and functional security system in the country.
Salam further expressed confidence that Governor Adeleke would emerge victorious in the forthcoming governorship election, claiming that more politicians from opposition parties were preparing to join the Accord Party.
He said “Very confident that the governor, Ademola Adeleke, will emerge victorious on the 15th of August. We are confident because we are on ground, and we can see that a lot of people have bought in. In the next couple of days, or maximum of two weeks, you will see the kind of decamping that will happen in Osun State, major flyers from other political parties, the APC, the ADC, and some of the other political parties who will be joining the accord to work together with the governor to ensure his success on the 15th of August. So we are very sure, we are very confident, that it will be a ratio 7 to 1, by the grace of God.”
In her remarks, a party stakeholder from Egbedore Local Government, Hon. Eyitayo Malakai, described Salam as one of the most popular representatives produced by the federal constituency.
She stated that leaders across the four local governments agreed that the lawmaker had performed well and deserved a third term in office.
“Hon. Bamidele Salam is the best and most popular representative we have ever had, not only in our federal constituency but in the whole of Osun State. I can proudly say that with what he has done and what he is currently doing.” She added.
