A Nigerian man has criticised First Lady Oluremi Tinubu over her alleged silence following the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.
Speaking in Yoruba during a programme on Agidigbo FM, the man expressed concern over the handling of the incident and the perceived lack of public response from top government officials and their spouses.
He lamented that some of the abducted victims were toddlers and young children who had reportedly remained in captivity since the incident occurred last Friday.
The man questioned why the First Lady had not publicly reacted to the development despite the severity of the situation.
He also compared the current situation to the 2014 abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to him, former First Lady Patience Jonathan publicly expressed concern and panic over the Chibok incident at the time, despite being mocked by many Nigerians.
He further criticised the wife of the Oyo State governor and spouses of lawmakers for allegedly failing to visit the scene of the abduction or publicly sympathise with affected families.
The man questioned whether political leaders and their spouses were showing enough compassion towards victims and their families during the crisis.
He alleged that some political figures appeared more focused on political activities and campaigns than responding to the plight of abducted children and teachers.
He said, ‘’There are three year old children, five year olds that have been abducted and taken into the forest. As the rain is the falling, those little children are inside the forests since last week Friday.
“I want to ask a question. We have not heard anything from the first lady since the abduction, We all remember ‘’Na only you waka come. There is God ooo!”
“Even the wife of the state governor hasn’t said anything. None of the wives of the lawmakers have not even visited the scenes of the abductions. Are they really good mothers? The wife of the President is going about campaiging for her husband. We remember how Goodluck’s wife was panicking that day people were even making jest of her. ‘Na only you waka come? There is God oo!!!
“None of these women have said anything? Aren’t they women anymore? They will now be following their husbands to campaign”
