The Osun State Government has dismissed a circulating report claiming the deposition of the Apetumodu of Ipetumodu, describing it as fake and not issued by any authorised government body.
In a press release signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Olufemi Ogundun, the government clarified that the purported statement did not emanate from the Ministry of Information and Public Enlightenment or the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
The statement urged members of the public, particularly indigenes of Ipetumodu, to disregard the viral report, noting that it was misleading and unofficial.

It further stated that the government has been engaging in consultations and dialogue with stakeholders in Ipetumodu regarding the matter.
According to the release, any decision on the issue would be taken in line with the rule of law, which it described as the cornerstone of the present administration.
The government added that appropriate steps are being taken and assured that the public would be duly informed through official communication channels at the right time.
Parts of the statement reads, “The attention of the Osun State Government has been drawn to a fake press release in circulation on the purported deposition of the Apetumodu of Ipetumodu.
“The press release did not emanate from the Ministry of Information and Public Enlightenment or the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and members of the general public and particularly indigenes of Ipetumodu are advised to disregard the fake viral story.
“The State Government has had useful and meaningful consultation and dialogue with stakeholders of Ipetumodu and steps are being taken in line with the rule of law which is the cornerstone of the present administration in the State.
“At the appropriate time, the general public and indigenes of Ipetumodu will be informed of the action of Government on the issue through the appropriate channels of communication”
