Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Rasheed Olawale, on Tuesday, the governor clarified that the ongoing local government crisis in Osun State has not affected his support for the President.
Adeleke stated that he has no issues with Tinubu, describing him as a leader of the South-West, and reiterated his endorsement of the President’s re-election bid in the interest of the region.
The governor, however, blamed the crisis in the state’s local government system on the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, accusing him of not moving past his defeat in the 2022 governorship election.
He added that both his administration and the people of Osun State hold Oyetola responsible for the situation rather than the President.
Adeleke also expressed appreciation to residents of Osun State for their support for the Accord Party since his defection, noting that the party’s popularity has continued to grow within and beyond the state.
He disclosed that party members across local chapters have been organising weekly activities that attract large participation.
The governor assured residents of continued delivery of democratic dividends, promising to improve on his administration’s performance if re-elected.
He said his government’s renewed agenda would focus more on youth, women and workers, while consolidating achievements in infrastructure and expanding efforts in agro-industrialisation, education and healthcare.
Adeleke further directed party members and government officials to strengthen grassroots mobilisation, promote the administration’s achievements across local governments and prepare for the forthcoming August 15 election campaign.
